As one could foresee the Ukrainian team Diduch – Ostapenko easily achieved the entry to the Main Draw by winning three games in a roll. The Polish teams did follow them as well. First the girls Daria Paszek – Aleksandra Filip have showed they’re in good shape. The Italian team Giombini – Ferretti could not beat the Polish girls loosing 2:0 as well as the German team Spinger – Steinhauf in the entry deciding game...

History of Beach Volleyball

The first games of beach volleyball took place in California, USA in 1920. At first it was just a fun and nice way of spending free time on the beaches. First matches were played according to the rules of hall volleyball. The development of beach volleyball is connected with arising the California Beach Volleyball Association and estabilishing current game regulations.

First Open World Championships were held on the State Beach in Pacific Palisade in 1976. In 1992 were played in Spain first Men and Women World Championships and in 1996 during the Olympic Games in Atlanta, the match of beach volleyball was a great success.

The activities of 210 federations and about 50 milions of participants all over the world show increasing and huge popularity of the beach volleyball.
